Michael Jackson telah mengajak kita

Michael Jackson, Sang Raja Musik Pop, meninggal dunia akibat serangan jantung di Rumah Sakit UCLA, Los Angeles, Amerika Serikat, Kamis (24/5) waktu setempat. Sebelumnya, penyanyi kelahiran Indiana, AS, 50 tahun silam ini kesulitan bernapas di rumahnya di Los Angeles, Kamis siang. Meski sempat mendapat pertolongan namun tetap masih tidak tertolong. Demikian dilansir oleh berbagai media.

Saya sendiri tidak terlalu mengenal sosok Michael Jackson ini. Saya lebih familiar dengan Kuburan Band, Dewa, Katon Bagaskoro ataupun Slank. Sebagaimana saya lidah saya yang lebih akrab dengan gado-gado, nasi gandul maupun es kelapa muda ketimbang pizza dan hotdog. Tetapi begitu mendengar kematian bintang ini saya langsung teringat akan akan salah satu title yang dinyanyikan oleh Michael Jackson. Heal The World. Sebuah ajakan buat kita untuk ikut menyelamatkan bumi!

Sembuhkan bumi

Superstar pop ini ternyata mempunyai kepedulian yang tinggi terhadap berbagai isu lingkungan hidup seperti pemanasan global dan perubahan iklim. Dalam sebuah wawancara dengan majalah Ebony pada penghujung tahun 2007, penyanyi ini mengaku amat gembira bahwa pada akhirnya dunia menyadari pentingnya penghijauan, pasalnya ia sendiri sudah mendorong masalah lingkungan ini selama bertahun-tahun.  Ia mengatakan: “Aku berharap itu semua dapat membuat orang-orang tertarik lebih cepat. Tetapi tak pernah ada kata terlambat. Sudah digambarkan sebagai kereta yang sedang berjalan cepat; jika kita tak menghentikannya, kita tak akan pernah bisa membuatnya (dunia) kembali. Jadi kita telah memperbaikinya sekarang.”
